Abstract

This article aims to give an account of how the crossover fiction phenomenon - in progressive expansion in contemporary children's literature - is evident in contemporary Brazilian and Portuguese literature. It aims to demonstrate how the fracturing themes, the presence of a non-linear narrative and language and literary style contribute to the sophistication of the contemporary crossover fiction, by analyzing the novel Aos 7 e aos 40, by João Anzanello Carrascoza, and the novel Irmão Lobo, by Carla Maia de Almeida. Both novels are characterized by the ability to surpass the limitations of a specific audience.
