Abstract

The present paper aims at the study of how high impact instagrammers use their accounts to disseminate children’s literature. This paper is also concerned with the responses they get to their different types of posts from their followers through engagement to check their interest in that content. The sample has been taken from 220 publications on 11 non-profit accounts which carry out the dissemination of children’s literature.  A study has been undertaken by which the account characteristics have been identified and its content has been analysed through the adaptation of a data collection instrument which has been previously validated. Data has been collected and analysed with Excel to compare accounts with higher and lower engagement. Among other results, a noteworthy fact is that those accounts with higher engagement present recommended readings along with teaching resources for pre-primary education; the higher the number of followers, the lower engagement becomes. Discussion and conclusions: recommendations are generally limited to bibliographical references and reference to content does not therefore go far enough. Those publications which get higher interaction mainly offer reels, children’s poetry or give support on how to create teaching resources. The procedure can be applied to other samples.
