Abstract

The present study reflects on the verbal-aesthetic and graphic singularities that characterize five object-books built from three short stories by the danish Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875), namely O Isqueiro Maravilhoso, with illustrations by Vojtěch Kubašta, distributed by Electroliber; O Soldadinho de Chumbo, inscribed in the “Era uma vez” collection by Agência Portuguesa de Revistas, as well as three contemporary editions, namely: O Soldadinho de Chumbo (2004), by Asa Editores; A Pequena Sereia (2018), by Sébastian Pelon, a publication by Dom Quixote, and, finally, A Pequena Sereia (2020), from Booksmile, with illustrations by Gwé. It is our intention to make it evident that these publications in different and sensorially appealing ways can act as gateways to the fantasy universe of the literary work of this famous storyteller.
