Abstract

The coeducation is a process of social and educational intervention with a character projected to the attainment of an integral development of the subject, having present to co-exist of two different sexes no confront and that share the same social, educational and personal building.  Since this perspective, the school of nowadays has the duties to renew and give answers the new needs and solicitudes of equality, respect and freedom between men and women sued by our socieducative communities.

This paper collects the experience lived in one semi-urban school of Vilagarcía de Arousa, the CEIP “The Piñeiriño”, through one co-educative project to all the boys and girls of Early Childhood education and Primary education (3-12 years). The fundamental reason that raised the development of this project was the need to work, in an organized and systematic way, those aspects that favour the respect and the collaboration between two sexes to achieve a society more equality and fair. In order to get of such aim two projects with a length of 3 years were designed: “Entre tod@s” and “Contando con elas”, where all the school participated. Their main objectives were:

  • Modify masculine and feminine stereotypes.
  • Sensitize to the students to corresponsability in domestic tasks

The article starts with the description of how was born an idea that went maturing through the environment and the history of school “The Piñeiriño”; about how all the teaching staff tried that the school belongs to all, girls and boys (organisation of spaces); about how they realized that all of them can do everything and teamwork (organisation of tasks), and how they realized that all must collaborate and share this idea, because Peace and Equality have to be built day to day.
