Abstract

The Andanzas del Cid Campeador (2006) by Montserrat del Amo is a novel in which the text of the Cantar de Mio Cid is recreated and the story is adapted to current young readers. In this sense, it is a very interesting example of the survival of medieval culture in general and of a classic of Castilian literature in particular. For this reason, it deserves a detailed study not only from a literary or didactic point of view, but also as an example of what has come to be called the "deontology of adaptations", insofar as the author honestly and intentionally tries to respect the contents and character of the minstrelsy work. In this article, we analyse and evaluate how this adaptation is carried out and, at the same time, we vindicate the once again the figure of Montserrat del Amo as one of the main referents of the children's literature of the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.
