Abstract

This reflection seeks to provide paths to read/see the pop-up book I love you (almost always) by Anna Llenas (2020) as an aesthetic artifact that calls for the participation of readers, in processes of continuous seduction. The paper is guided by three main objectives: i) to investigate how the spaces reconstructed on the double page instigate a playful and creative multidimensionality that fosters empathy; ii) to uncover the multi-meaning character of the materialities of this pop-up book, for the understanding of the acceptance of the Other, enhancing the experience of emotions that go towards the rediscovery of responsible and active citizenship practices; iii) to suggest reading itineraries, enhanced by the peculiarities re-presented in the space of the page. We conclude that this book might be envisaged as an unusual fabric permeated with affections that reverberate in the multiple spaces that the pages reveal, becoming a living matter that touches the eyes of the readers, fostering empathy.
