The silences in Agustín Fernández Paz's 'The Shadows Cycle'
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present article studies the silences that persist during the different stages of the Spanish Civil War presented through the work “The Shadows Cycle”, by the Galician writer Agustín Fernández Paz (1947-2016), intended as Children's and Young Adult’s Literature. The corpus which has been used includes a trilogy which is suitable to analyse this topic, as the novels are great vindications of the historical memory of the victims of the 1936 conflict. The study of the trilogy shows the consequences of war and the strong repression suffered during Francoism in the subsequent decades. Thus, the author wishes to prevent ignorance about Spanish history by creating these three works to educate new generations and to pay tribute to those who were silenced.
