As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The request has not been previously published, or presented to another journal (or an explanation has been given in Comments to the editor).
  • The text fulfills the bibliographic and stylistic requirements indicated in Norms for authors.
  • If you are applying to a section of the journal which is reviewed by pairs, you should make sure that the instructions in Guaranteeing a blind review are followed.
  • Acceptance of a paper for its publication in the journal entails the acceptance and compliance with the established Self-archiving policy.
  • If the paper contains any kind of material whose reproduction requires for permission, please indicate this circumstance (using Comments to the editor). Authors are responsible for respecting intellectual property when they reproduce materials as part of their works and must send the corresponding permissions to the journal.
    The editor, in any case, is free of any responsibility resulting from the author’s eventual violation of intellectual property rights.

Elos. Revista de Literatura Infantil e Xuvenil publishes original scientific papers that adhere to the journal’s aims and research. The languages of publication are Galician, Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Papers should be submitted in any of the most commonly used word processors with the exception of PDF. Miscellaneous and Monographic Section will have a minimum length of 15 pages and a maximum of 25 (between 7500 and 12500 words) and Reviews a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 (between 1500 and 2500 words), including all the component parts.

Before attaching the file, the following metadata must be filled in: Name, Surname, Affiliation, Email, ORCID ID, Country, Job Title, Summary and Keywords.

The following terms and conditions are applicable to all papers in all sections of the Journal, although reviews do not include abstract and keywords.

First page: The first page must include the following information:

Title in Galician or Portuguese, Spanish and English (size 12, text aligned to the left, the title in the first language in bold (it must always be the language in which the work is written).

Author (size 12, centred and bold)

Institutional e-mail (size 12, centred)

Institution to which it belongs (size 12, centred)

ORCID (body 12, centred)

Abstract in Galician or Portuguese, Spanish and English of 12-15 lines (between 150 and 200 words) (following the order of languages of the title) (body 12, left aligned)

List of keywords in Galician or Portuguese, Spanish and English (a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6, separated by semicolons) (body 12, left-aligned)

Papers in Miscellaneous and Monographic Section must have the structure of a scientific article, including the following elements: Introduction, Background, Body of the paper (divided into as many headings as necessary), Conclusions and Bibliographical references. Reviews will be constructed in a single block, without footnotes or bibliography. In addition, the title of the paper will be the complete bibliographical reference of the book reviewed.

For the titles of the first order headings, capital letters, size 12, aligned to the left, bold and numbered with Arabic numerals should be used. Second order headings in the same style, but only initial capital letters and arranged in alphabetical order. Third order in the same style, but unnumbered.

Footnotes: These should only be included to clarify concepts and never to introduce entirely new bibliographical references, which will always be included in the paper’s final bibliography.  They will be numbered using Arabic numerals from 1 onwards.  All footnotes not relating to the paper’s heading should be numbered consecutively.  However, if the footnote refers to the heading it should be marked with an asterisk.

Tables, charts and graphics: Each table, chart or graph must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals and preceded by a title. These elements must be placed in the work in the appropriate place, in an editable format. In the case of images, they must also be preceded by a clear and explanatory title and a subsequent note with the source. In addition to being incorporated in the text in their corresponding place, they must also be sent as complementary files in good resolution. No more than 10 images may be included.

Citation references: must be placed between brackets according to this system: (Boves Naves, 1989, p. 47). Sometimes the names of the authors cited may be placed within the text itself instead of between brackets. Please see the example below: As Boves Naves has already put it (1990, p. 50), literature...

Bibliographical references: All the quotations and citations in the text must be referenced in a final section, “Bibliography”, following APA rules. The following are examples of bibliographical data of books, articles, book chapters, academic works, webs, newspaper articles and audiovisual works:

  • Books:

  • Movie or another audiovisual work:

Use of inverted commas and parentheses. English inverted commas (" ") should always be used and Latin inverted commas (" ") should be avoided. Foreign words should be in italics, never in inverted commas. Brackets ([...]) are used to indicate that a part of a quotation is omitted from the original. Curved parentheses and dashes may be used to add complementary or clarifying information to the main sentence.

Abbreviations. The use of abbreviations to omit the name of the author or the title and year of the work, such as idem, ibidem, or other abbreviations such as apud or cf. are not permitted and must be exchanged for the translation into the language of the work. In the case of using abbreviations to avoid repetition of very long terms, the first time the full version of the abbreviation must be presented in succession.

Indications on co-authorship. According to the Código de Boas Prácticas na Investigación by University of Santiago de Compostela (2018, p. 24), in order to have the full status of author, in addition to the requirements established in the legislation, aspects such as contributing substantially to the development of the project and the preparation of the resulting publications, as well as being able to present in detail the personal contribution to the research and to discuss the main aspects of the research as a whole must be taken into account. In addition, the order of priority of the authors should be decided by consensus and in advance, taking into account that the first author is the one who made the most important effort in the research and that the remaining authors should be ordered from the highest to the lowest degree of contribution.
