The aim of this paper is to apply the Val.Es.Co. group’s theory on units of conversation and colloquial Spanish to the study of some teaching techniques such as dialogues in Spanish as a Foreign Language. Our work provides an overview of the dialogues that appear in textbooks today and it looks at how colloquial conversation traits are manifested in them. In our opinion, the dialogues that appear in textbooks should be closer to colloquial conversations, especially in advanced levels of learning. Finally, this article would like to help future authors of educational materials
