Abstract

Preference adjectives (favourite, preferred) have grammatical properties that contrast with those of other adjective classes, be they related to superlatives or not. This piece proposes an analysis of their behaviour based on the idea that, in contrast to other adjectives, these elements introduce relational structures where they, and not the related noun, are heads.
