Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper is a reflection on the Nobel Prize in Literature, an accolade presented by the Swedish Academy. This «institution» has the ability to canonize certain authors and texts. Therefore, some of the assessment criteria used during the selection process are analysed in order to clarify if the prestigious award is truly literary. Finally, the crucial elements utilised to choose a candidate author and the basis for his canonization are reviewed using the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami as an example.
