Abstract

This paper analyses the affinities and differences between lyricvoices –Galician and Brazilian- from the comprehension of the presenceof landscape in their works. Water, stars, clouds, the wind, thesky and the sea are natural elements which acquire, as regards language,a fluid and inconstant character in order to solidly expresssome features of cultural identity, the tragical bias of human condition, the sense of mystery and religiousness, calmness, anguish orthe pain of living. Landscape, in Rosalía de Castro (1837-1885)and Cecília Meireles (1901-1964), seems to turn into an aestheticresource of appropriation of the world in order to express intimacywhile simultaneously revealing the soul and culture of those whomthe poets adress and the place wherefrom they make their adress. Asimilar process to those eyes within mirrors which allow a deep identificationto both Galician and Brazilian readers.
