Abstract

This article addresses the interaction of negation with deverbal nominalizations. We examine which types of nominalizations are compatible with negation. Then, the article focuses on the study of eventive nominalizations. Firstly, it is shown that the reading that arises with the construction <no + eventive deverbal nominalization> corresponds, in a parallel fashion to what occurs within the verbal domain, with the inhibited eventuality reading. Next, it is brought to light how the construction denotes an eventuality that possesses both stative and eventive properties.
