Abstract
The creation of Institutes of Education Sciences (1969) and its implementation (1970) was a remarkable innovation in the Spanish educational system. The ICE of the University of Santiago (ICE-USC) began work a year earlier, on an experimental basis, assuming the tasks of: a) teacher training; b) the development of teachers; c) research. In 1974 the Educational Guidance Division was created at the ICE-USC in order to provide technical advice to schools, teachers and tutors of the University District of Santiago (in those times unique in Galicia).
In the field of educational technology and production resources, the ICE-USC was the first in Spain to implement audiovisual media services. Through Microteaching and Observation courses, simulations of sociological behavior, learning programs in primary education, language teaching, etc., the ICE-USC became fully integrated in the tasks of the training and retraining of teachers and research at the University of Santiago de Compostela. This paper offers a succinct description of the activities developed during that period and their assessment by teachers at different educational levels.
