Abstract

This scientific article, resulting from research linked to PIBIC-UESPI, and situated in the research line that studies contemporary Brazilian fiction, analyses the works Biofobia, Mastigando humanos and Feriado de mim mesmo, adult novels by the writer Santiago Nazarian. It studies the aforementioned works through the clues left by the author himself, who used the expression "bizarre existentialism" to refer to his work. It develops a discussion about the themes of existentialism, the bizarre and the use of metafiction as representative aspects in contemporary literature and that are present in Nazarian. It carries out in-depth readings of the novels Biofobia, Mastigando humanos and Feriado de mim mesmo in order to perceive distinctive stylistic traits, thematic recurrences and formal concerns. It discusses themes such as failure, loneliness and the inability of Santiago Nazarian's characters to adapt. It also presents a brief biobibliography of Santiago Nazarian for a better understanding of the author's trajectory. It uses, finally, the bibliographical and documental research as strategies for data collection, supporting this analysis in authors such as Oliveira (2011), Santos (2005), Reichmann (2006) and Schollhammer (2009).
