Abstract

During the last decades in Western culture, a spatial and centralturn has taken place which has led to a proliferation of the lines ofthought on the concept of space, enriched by contemporary phenomenasuch as globalization and correlative strategies of location.Reflections on the evolution of post-industrial cities, modes of inhabitationof the space, the development of Ecocriticism andEcofeminism, the interdisciplinary contributions which may jointogether concepts such as the management of the territory, tourismand ways of representation, constitute a global frame wherein theanalysis of poetical and literary shapes of the territory acquire arenewed interest in the analysis of the strategies of resistance andidentity management. Contemporary Galician poetry constitutes asuitable field to detect transformations within the traditional strategiesof territorial usage as a symbolic condition of identity becausethe space in poetry, unlike it occurs within narrative, is alleviated from the dimension of the scenery or spatial frame and is, quiteoften, the proper centre of lyrical production, a source of an evocationor the locus of the reflection. The main goal is to analyse andinterpret the well-known amplification of realemes and spaces incontemporary Galician poetry, the deconstructive games and theinsertion of spaces foreign to traditional poetry which radicallymodify the treatment of the space within the poetical discourse.
