Abstract

The present article considers the speech act of disagreement in colloquial Spanish. The study is based on the analysis of the acts of disagreement in colloquial conversations collected from the Val.Es.Co. corpora. The aim of the paper is to propose a definition of the act in question created on the basis of examples gathered from the corpora. Furthermore, a classification of the act of disagreement is introduced based on the factors that influence both its form and pragmatic meaning, especially on the argumentative and interactive level. Every type of act is explained, and their characteristics and peculiarities are specified.
