De literatura y traducción: cartas inéditas a Pérez de Ayala de Ernest Boyd y otros corresponsales ingleses

Abstract

This paper introduces four unpublished letters addressed to Ramón Pérez de Ayala, at different times of his life, by Ernest Boyd, Marguerite Steen, Janet H. Perry and N. Chatterji respectively. These correspondents of Ayala’s, who were linked to the world of literature and literary translation in all cases, are duly identified and put in context. In parallel, a close analysis of their respective letters is herewith offered. The analysis is expected to shed light on some aspects of the writer’s reception in the Englishspeaking literary world. Finally, the appendix that closes the paper presents a Spanish translation of this small but arguably interesting documentary corpus.
