Abstract

This article is framed within the context of my research work on the Teacher Training Schools in Galicia and the analysis of contacts with Europe from the relationships established through the pension policy. Given the limited presence of special education in initial teaching programmes, teachers, inspectors and the teaching staff of Teacher Training Schools had the opportunity to get in touch with the advances of European New School, whose fruits would have greater resonance in the so-called Professional Plan of the Second Republic.
At the level of documentary exploration, as a primary source, funds from the Historical Archives of the University of Santiago de Compostela (AHUS), documents relating to Teacher Training Schools in Galicia, and the Memories and file documentation of the Secretariat of the Board for Extension of Studies and Scientific Research (JAE) between 1907 and 1936 at the Residence of Students (Madrid), were consulted.
