Abstract

The aim of this article is the clarification of the concept of Specific Learning Disabilities having in mind the most recent research in the field. The author also proposes a Portuguese definition of SLD that could be the starting point to meet effectively the needs of students with SLD that are included in the Portuguese educational system.
