The Galician Women’s track in the Residencia de Señoritas of Madrid: Making the road by walking.
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Residencia de Señoritas (Residence for Women Students) opened the doors in
Madrid in 1915. It was promoted by the Board for Advanced Studies and Scientific
Research as a home for the women studying in Madrid. From the very beginning in the
Residencia there was a group of Galician Women, who often developed outstanding
careers, especially in Pedagogy and in other fields, like Medicine or Sciences. Thirty
three Galician Women lived in the Residencia along twenty years. This work recovers
their names. It follows the line of another works of the authoress, and the aim is to save
from oblivion the names and the track of same pioneer women. The work is a
vindication of the memory of women and a response against a shallow way of making
Gender History.
