Epistemology And Moral Philosophy In John Stuart Mill's Thought: An Historical-Philosophical Consideration.
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article aims to present the fundamental features of J.St. Mill’s epistemological works, especially his work A System of Logic. In particular, it aims to show, first, the novelty of this work in relation to the development of a logic of the "moral sciences" as J.St. Mill called it (logic that we understand today as methodology of social science), and secondly, the influence and importance of the epistemological and methodological reflections of the English philosopher in the second half of the nineteenth century. Finally, I try to bring to light, emphatically, both the indissoluble link between logic and ethics in his philosophy and the deep moral motivation of his theoretical philosophy.
