Abstract

A study has been conducted about production and quality of Lamuyo variety pepper (cv.`Vidi F1´) that has been cultivated in greenhouse and fertilized with dried pelletized broiler litter broiler litter (BL), as well as about the changes produced to the soil as a consequence of it. The established range of fertilizing treatments was as follows: non-fertilized plots (Control), plots treated with slow-releasing inorganic fertilizer (83.3 g m-2), to supply 100 kg N ha-1 (Mr) and plots fertilized with increasing doses of BL (BL1: 265.9, BL2: 354.5, BL3: 443.2 and BL4: 531.8 g m-2) to provide respectively 60, 80, 100 and 120 kg N ha-1. Using non superior to 265.9 g m-2 doses of broiler litter (BL1), the obtained pepper production equals that one reached with inorganic fertilizer. In relation to the nutritional quality of the fruit, fertilizing, either with organic or inorganic fertilizer, does not produce significant difference on vitamin C presence. Soils which have been fertilized with dried pelletized broiler litter do not show any evidence of salinization, no matter the doses that have been used (BL1, BL2, BL3 or BL4).
