Evaluation in Early Childhood Education: tendencies of Brasilian scientific production
Main Article Content
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to contribute to the debate on evaluation in early childhood education from a survey of the Brazilian academic production in relation to the subject in the period between the years 1997 and 2012. This is on the assumption that the subject is hardly present in our academic production. The corpus of empirical research is limited to theses and dissertations registered on the platform of CAPES (Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel - the thesis database) and the journal articles included in the platform SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online). It is understood that knowledge of production effected during this period will thicken the discussion about the process of internal evaluation institutions. It is also discussed about the national documents that guide and establish the assessment in the first stage of basic education. We conclude that the challenge in relation to the issue has been addressed, but remains current. It is essential to deepen the debate from references that help us to build evaluation processes able to inform, monitor and re-orient educational practices that respect young children as subjects of rights, in day care centers and pre-schools in Brazil.
