Abstract

This article aims to emphasize the role of translation as a gateway to new poetic voices, as well as its importance for its diffusion in other countries, one of the reasons that led José Ángel Valente to carry out the versions of Cavafis. On the other hand, we have tried to show how José Ángel Valente, in the exercise of these versions, seeks in an intentional wat to assimilate some creative resources of the Alexandrian poet to apply them to his own writing. In the following pages we propose, in addition, to present the translation of poetry as a poetic dialogue, as understood by the poet-translator from Ourense.
