Abstract
The aim of this study is to explain why the progressive non-stative predicates behave as the stative ones with respect to a set of stativity tests. Our hypothesis is that the Progressive is a content of Phasal Aspect. So, our purpose is to prove that the behaviour of the Spanish periphrasis <estar + gerund> in those tests does not follow from its nature as a stativizing device but from the fact that it selects an internal part of the verbal event.
