This article seeks to account for the trade of the expert writer as done by Juan Benet in different essays. More specifically, it is about those “cuartillas” which are focused on the figure of Job, who does not stop doing what he should until divine revelation causes him to adopt an attitude that is different from the one maintained until that time. This allegory allows us to explain the relationship between faithfulness to the writer’s trade and the idea that dictates at a certain moment
