Abstract

Around the middle of the 18th century people from Cataluña arrived to Galicia, becoming a community that renewed the Galician economy through the development of salted fish industry,This generated a characteristic architecture and the opening of new urban spaces, as well as a process of modernization in many of the villages. The new architectural examples, although being part  of our industrial heritage, suffered, along the 20th century, an important transformation process that forwarded to the loss or alteration of many of them, like the Arenal seashore promenade.
