Tradition and modernity. Spaces of power of women in the rural world during francoism

Abstract
The exaltation of the rural life and the revaluation of the agrarian world opposite to the urban was one of the ideological axes of the Franco regime. The Feminine Section assumed the task of reforming the field through professional training of rural women to prevent the migration of the rural population, improve the housekeeping of the families in the field and at the same time, strengthen the model of Catholic and patriotic femininity legitimized by the Government. In this scenario, this article analyses the training offer which the FS held to professionally train the women of the rural environment, doing a review for different institutions and training initiatives both the field of non-formal education within the educational system. The training was suiting while the agrarian politics of Government changed, which affected directly to the professional projection of women, in particular for those who had passed the exams to be Agents of Domestic Economy in the Agricultural Extension Agencies.
