Abstract

This article analizes some samples of deonomastic lexical blends from the point of view of cognitive linguistics, which as such is a novel contribution to Spanish word-formation and deonomastics. It is concluded that, although deonomastic blends are created from entrenched schemas of the language, their processing is highly dependent on the discurse and context in which each item appears. Therefore, it is proposed that the study of deonomastic blending should abandon the use of isolated and descontextualized cases.
