Abstract

Characterizing the grammatical behavior of coordinated and subordinated clauses is a main goal in order to classify linked clauses as well as to establish the number and nature of inter-clausal relationships in languages. In the Hispanic tradition, however, just a few works have drawn attention to this topic. This paper offers a test of morpho-syntactic, structural, and semantic-pragmatic properties allowing us to oppose coordination and subordination in Spanish and to classify some problematic constructions.
