Carta de interesse cultural para a região do Médio Tejo/Portugal: modelação em Sistemas de Informação Geográfica

Abstract

The regional cultural interest is a transversal element to every community, thus directly related to their notion of "cultural heritage".

This paper proposes a new methodology for the development of the Cultural Interest Map for the Médio Tejo/Portugal, centered on a Geographic Information Systems model, built upon official data from archaeological sites, architectural heritage and cultural equipment. The purpose and therefore aim was to identify a set of clusters and its surroundings, which are areas of cultural interest.

The model in Geographic Information Systems involved several classification stages, allowing the construction of the Médio Tejo/Portugal cultural interest map, based on agglomeration degrees of cultural interest.
