Abstract
During the Baroque period several saints were canonized in America. As a result of the complex negotiations between center and periphery, figures were raised to the altar that reflected the local society, while many others were not. Art, in its diverse manifestations, played a prominent role in the creation of these saints revealed the American culture in all its glory.
