In a world that is completely urbanised and prone to confl ict on a constant basis, the artistic debate has moved on from formalist and self-referential stances, with architectural and urban development issues occupying a central role once more. It is in this context that the type of questions asked by radicals such as the situationists, the members of Archigram and Andrea Branzi’s group in the 1970s should be posed once more. These are extremely important questions that centre on the possibility of linking this architecture with a political ideal in keeping with the times and with the revival of the idea of the urban as a space of social representation.
