Abstract

Contemporary works of art are living beings, both in a figurative and, on occasion, a literal sense. The code ofethics that applies to the conservation and restoration of our most recent heritage has had to be adapted to thesituations and problems that arise today. This article an overview of the essential characteristics of the these typesof works, in relation both to the criteria observed in and to the most common technical and conceptual problemsimpacting on their restoration. In doing so, it analyses the paradigm shift caused by the need to update theorypertaining to the specialist field of  contemporary art restoration.
