Abstract

Is the gaze the blind spot of anthropology? After recalling some views on Galicia, this question is the guiding thread for a reflection on the structure of the gaze. Paradoxically, anthropology, which emphasizes observation, forgets to think the gaze. Forgetfulness that leads to overlooking the fact that ‘visualism’, and those theoretical, ideological and visual biases that are androcentrism, ethnocentrism and classism, structuring the gaze, they affect ethnographic description and have epistemological consequences.
