The final years of the Cuban insurrectional process (1957-1958) supplied the press at that time with more than ample material for publication. One of the first people to show the world the faces of the Cuban rebels and their environment was the Spanish photojournalist Enrique Meneses, who was working for Paris-Match, a French weekly. He lived with guerrilla forces for four months, gathering valuable photographs, texts and personal experience as a direct witness of the struggle that would change Latin-American history and world order.
