Resumo

Co obxectivo de contribuír a mellorar o coñecemento das relacións de complementariedade no turismo entre as dúas rexións transfronteirizas de Galicia e Norte de Portugal, este traballo estuda o crecemento das conexións aéreas de baixo custo no aeroporto do Porto, os fluxos de peregrinos a Santiago de Compostela que teñen o seu lugar de partida en Portugal e os fluxos de turistas internacionais a Galicia. A metodoloxía utilizada é a análise descritiva-comparativa e o test de cointegración. Os resultados suxiren que o crecemento de conexións de compañías de baixo custo no aeroporto Sá Carneiro do Porto contribuíron a aumentar a presenza de turistas internacionais en Galicia. Ao mesmo tempo, o crecemento de turistas internacionais en Galicia mellorou o atractivo do aeroporto do Porto para incrementar a capacidade operativa das compañías aéreas de baixo custo (low cost). Da análise tamén se desprende que o fluxo de peregrinos a Santiago de Compostela que parte de Portugal é o que máis medrou de todos os Camiños de Santiago, suxerindo un efecto positivo do aeroporto do Porto sobre este colectivo de visitantes, e viceversa, aumentando a peregrinación o atractivo do dito aeroporto para garantir a rendibilidade/viabilidade das conexións aéreas.
