Abstract

This article reviews the long way covered by the initial training of pre-school teachers in Spain. The initial approach was based on the need to collect the wealth of educational action in the classrooms in order to incorporate it in the training of the professionals of this stage.

The first sketches of this initiative were developed in the “Teacher training college of Sant Cugat”, of the Autonomous University of Barcelona at the beginning of the 1970s.

The generalization of this training came with the curriculum of 1990, with the definition of the degree in pre-school teaching, (three university courses) which kept this structure until the implementation of the European State of Education and implementation of  four University courses Degrees as a first degree. The present case has been recognized as a Degree in Pre-school Education. But an awareness of the importance of a continuous training on the basis of professional practice, gives rise to an experience of more than 20 years old. In it university and nursery professionals (0-3 and 3-6 stages) come together, mainly in the educational environment. At the same time they take into account other disciplines that have a direct bearing on the process of accompanying children in their development and integration into the world they have to live in.
