Abstract

By approaching the entire history of the city, or its architecture, from the belief that it has been fed and watered with dreams, in other words by thoughts that occupy both the utopian space and the most pragmatic, we can more easily come to understand the value of texts such as those considered here. Although disparate in terms of nature and time, they all contribute to the knowledge of meaningful problems linked to theory and project.
Along with Kelly, Eiximenis, Sinapia, Fourier, Cabet, Mendoza and Hitler, Howard and Soria provide us with texts that are filled with daydreams, to which have been added those of institutions and bodies exhorting the goodness of the intelligent city, which is perhaps a new illusion.
