Abstract

As opposed to the traditional view that considered animal communicative processesto be very simple, the intensive research on animal communication developed in the last decadeshas found that nonhuman communication is highly complex, sophisticated, and efficient. This selective bibliography aims at offering a representative overview of such a great complexity;in addition, it also aims at illustrating the complexity found in nonhuman animal representationalprocesses, which can be broadly conceived of as semiotic processes. For such a task tobe fulfilled, 129 references have been selected and briefly commented.
