Abstract
This article analyses the situation of current education affected by significant social changes which explain the coexistence problems generative of increasing demand for School Mediation. Through its history and evolution, its lights and shadows are analysed concluding, from a new perspective, with a proposal capable of enhancing the personal and contextual transformation involved, strengthening the weak point of its permanence over time: Contextualized Educational Mediation. This, incorporated to a Coexistence Plan, together with other programs which contextualize it —education in conflict management, social skills and efficient communication— and an educational approach to discipline, will transform in a positive and ongoing way the centre culture, fostering the learning of coexistence.
