La noción arendtiana de “banalidad del mal” a partir de la idea de irreflexividad

Abstract

In this paper I present a conception of Arendt’s notion of banality of evil, based on the central idea of thoughtlessness. The thesis I propose to readers is that this notion is understandable from the absence of thought, judgment and memory. On the one hand, I will offer a characterization of these three faculties to show the relationship between them absence and the possibility of doing evil. On the other hand, I will refer to the case of Eichmann, because that was the phenomenon that led Arendt to change her conception from radicality to banality of evil.
