Abstract

Given the convergence between the political economy of communication and cultural studies, the following article seeks to present the contributions of each of these fields to the discussions on the regimes of ownership and control established in the cultural industries, as well as their role in shaping the cultural content they put into circulation. To this end, special attention is paid to the theoretical proposals of Latin American specialists who stimulate a reflection on the usefulness of disciplinary differentiation in the analysis of both content and business structures.
