Abstract

On March 8, 2018, women took to the streets en masse to claim their role in today's society. A mobilization never seen before worldwide. But this mobilization is not born spontaneously. The objective of this article is to take a historical tour of the different mobilizations carried out by the feminist movement, both globally and locally in the Basque Country in recent decades. Through the analysis of the topics debated in the different world conferences and in the most local conferences, we see that the feminist agenda maintains common themes: violence against women, the defense of their rights, social and political participation. It has not entered the theoretical level of the debates throughout these years, but it is verified that institutional policies in favor of women's rights are more necessary than ever, but they are not enough if there is no feminist movement on the street that pushes and marks the way
