Abstract

This article analyzes the electoral process that took place in Paraguay on April 22, 2018, emphasizing the role played by the public opinion polls that were disseminated during the campaign and during the election day. The interest to analyze the role of the opinion studies lies in the public and institutional questioning that occurred after the process: some of the polling firms were questioned by the alleged manipulation of their opinion studies in favor of one of the parties in dispute. In this regard, one might ask: was there a manipulation of opinion polls in favor of one of the parties? and, in this sense, did the polls function as a propaganda mechanism within the framework of the electoral campaign?
