Abstract

In the present work is carried out an analysis of discourses on the subject migrant appear in various formats (political declarations and cultural consumption) in the mainstream media in Iberoamerica. The references to the subject migrant are pre-sented as a problem, as if it was a question of a stranger that it comes to appropriate of the work and of the economic and social benefits of the local peoples. In this re-gard, the productions of the mass media of Iberoamerica construct an ethnocentric look on the subject migrant that originates in the principal means of Spain and is reproduced in those of major traffic of Latin America. It is a vicious circle in which poverty, migration and crime is associated. The article also contributes to the discus-sion of immigration proposing, from theoretical contributions on the culture and the mass media, to consider to the migrations in his communication and cultural context.
