El poder de los constructores de lugares y de los comerciantes: el Papa y los artículos marianos en la economía política de la peregrinación

Resumen
A partir de los estudios de campo sobre el nivel micor de los artículos que los gestores de los lugares visitados y los comerciantes exhiben en los sitios sagrados, se proponen un argumento sobre el lado de la oferta de la economía política de la peregrinación. Los gestores de los lugares visitados y los comerciantes se basan en las tradiciones establecidas por los peregrinos, pero difieren en lo tocante a las innovaciones. Los gestores de lugares visitados son sus directores e invierten en innovaciones para asegurar el rendimiento del lugar a largo plazo. Los comerciantes confían en las decisiones de compra a corto plazo de los peregrinos. Prefieren los productos probados y buscan novedades que se ajusten al patrón de éxito. Mientras que la resistencia de los gestores de los lugares visitados demuestra el poder del lado de la oferta, la cautela de los comerciantes insinúa los límites. Roma durante el Jubileo de la Compasión de Francisco y el santuario mariano bávaro de Altötting en los años posteriores a la dimisión del Papa Benedicto XVI son los casos de estudio para ilustrar estas afirmaciones en la perspectiva de la peregrinación mariana y papal.
