Abstract

O interese pola poboación maior en diversas áreas da economía e da sociedade foi en au-mento nos últimos anos a raíz do proceso de avellentamento demográfico que están experimen-tando as rexións máis desenvolvidas a nivel mundial, especialmente o vello continente e particu-larmente España. Máis alá dos custos asociados á vellez, a poboación maior preséntase como un mercado de especial relevancia para un gran número de sectores polo seu elevado poder adquisiti-vo, principalmente a través da xeración "baby boom". O sector turístico perfílase como un dos maio-res beneficiarios dese proceso como consecuencia dos cambios nos estilos de vida da poboación maior na actualidade, máis orientada ao goce do lecer que as xeracións anteriores. Por todo iso, es-te estudo presenta unha aproximación aos patróns de comportamento turístico dos maiores de 55 anos en España no que respecta á tendencia, á motivación e ás características da viaxe deste colecti-vo.
