Abstract

The article illustrates the key points of a quality music education for the 0-3 age group (nursery school). It is part of a training in art music that recognises listening as an unavoidable end and means for the growth of the child at that age, with an eye ideally projected into the verticality of the subsequent school segments. The paper lays down some pedagogical, planning and methodological premises on the basis of a research and training project carried out in some educational contexts in South Tyrol, in northern Italy, and identifies the key points around which the educational activity in the age group in question is organised. Finally, the pathway shows how the training of the staff of educators – through training courses and the educational action carried out in the various early childhood contexts – and of the adults (family members) who look after the children is decisive in ensuring the cognitive and affective formation of the children and ensuring the rooting of the educational action in the structures and in the territory.
